Stephan did an excellent job photographing our wedding. He took creative, great quality pictures that we will cherish. He was also extremely friendly and easy going...all of our guests loved him! He even stayed later than expected. We had fun hanging out with him. To top it off he saved our wedding cake! We forgot to pick it up (of course) and he tracked down the cake even though the place had closed. (amazing!). We had our reception on a later date and procrastinated getting the images we wanted in our slide show to Stephan for final touches...and he came through again and spent extra time making a slide show and perfecting the already beautiful pics for us so we could show our family and friends at the reception. My fiance and I were planning a private wedding in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Having gorgeous photos was my main priority. I researched photographers in that area, and was blown away by Stephan's portfolio of weddings on his website. I was drawn to his artistic use of space and the unique compositions of the photos that were full of feeling. I dreaded being in weddings, because you are posing for the photographer in a very stiff manner. Stephan catches you "in the moment" and it is real-and a lot of fun outside-of- the- box pictures (he took us to a popular rum bar in Bayfield afterwards for photos that had crazy pink lighting for fun). We planned an outdoor wedding on the water, which unfortunately you can't order the weather, so there were complications there, but it all worked out. We had the ceremony on land next to Lake Superior under a willow tress. Afterwards, Stephan drove us all over the town for cool venues for the creative photos I had anticipated, such as the Rum Line Bar, standing on someones old,rustic sailboat, he had us stand in the middle of the street on a hill overlooking Bayfield, to a historic bed and breakfast with beautiful gardens, and of course walking in the sand and water on the shore. The photos are exactly what I imagined. I highly recommend Stephan Hoglund.

Stephan's passion for photography is apparent throughout his photos and I knew my search for a wedding photographer was over when I browsed his website. I knew that I wanted a wedding photographer who was able to capture those moments throughout the night that I would cherish forever. Stephan is wonderfully spirited and easy to work with; we had a blast taking our pictures with him. He was very reasonably priced without compromising the quality of the photos. I would, without hesitation, recommend him for any event.

I set off looking for a photographer who could capture the idea of what our relationship is to me inside a camera lense and put it out there for everyone to see; I found that with Stephan's work...my photos are turning out wonderful! We look like we're in love & we look natural & on top of that - we look like I feel...surreal. The images have an artistic touch that most of the photographers I looked at weren't offering. Best of all, I just got married this weekend on a Saturday, by Monday evening I was sharing about 60-70 photos that he got up on the website quick for us, which was awesome because my family & friends who couldn't make the drive for the wedding loved seeing them so quickly! Just check out his website & see his work - I knew from the moment I read his blog that he was the laid back guy I could let spend the day of my wedding very intimately with us as a couple. My husband described him as the "busy laid back guy" because at our wedding he was everywhere but never in the way & we never felt stressed when directed us into particular poses that caught his eye. Very easy to work with & hang out on your wedding day with. He went above and beyond getting us some beautiful shots in the grass as the sun went down, even though most photographers would have just snapped their remaining time away inside the venue. He was the only person constantly staying in contact throughout the planning process and about the only thing I wasn't worried about with the wedding was our photos. You won't be dissappointed!! :)

We were so very happy with Stephan Hoglund Photography! My husband and I eloped, so our ceremony was somewhat last minute and he was fantastic with suggesting places for the ceremony and photogragh's to be taken. I was greatful how professional and easy he made the picture taking process for me, it made my day so much less stressful. I was so happy when I saw my wedding pictures, I was amazed at the shots he got. They were absolutely beautiful!

Stephan did an awesome job at our daughter's wedding @ Lutsen Resort, MN. What a wonderful experience, he made everyone feel comfortable and we hardly knew he was there!!! He stayed longer and took pictures, than expected......I would recommend him anytime!

Stephan was especially important to the success of my daughter's wedding this past summer at the Gunflint Lodge near Grand Marais, MN. We chose him to be the photographer because we liked the photos on his website & the price structure. We didn't know we were also getting a warm, caring person with a ton of knowledge about the Grand Marais area as well as a wedding planner! Stephan told us who to contact for the most delicious wedding cake I've ever tasted. He set us up with some super talented musicians. One of his friends came out to the lodge & did our hair & make-up. We looked fabulous - really! He even emailed & phoned me when he thought I wasn't responding quickly enough to make sure I got the people he recommended. If you are planning a wedding you owe it to yourself to check out his website. He really is that good. The groom bought his wedding ring from Stephan, we purchased jewelry from his shop for the wedding party & my husband surprised me on our 36th wedding anniversery with beautiful rings Stephan designed.

Stephan captures the moment as it happens. Some posing, but mostly it is real-time, as-it-happens photos. He is a professional, he has great idea's for capturing the moment on his own and will also do any poses/angles you want. He was very flexible, timely, and often knew what we wanted before we did.

We presented Stephan with a challenge: an outdoor wedding involving sled dogs in March in northern Minnesota. He did an incredible job of capturing the day, from the dogsledding shots to the ceremony, from posed shots in the woods to portraits that captured emotion. I highly recommend him!

Stephan was a joy to work with. He is an ARTIST...not merely a photographer. He has such a splendid eye for detail, and he made us feel very comfortable and free. He places a lot of value in "place" and "environment", and I feel that he really captured the feeling of our wedding through his emphasis on the surroundings of our natural world. BONUS* we also got our wedding rings from him! He is also a jewelry designer by trade. He is exceptionally creative and talented! Talk about One Stop Shopping!!!!!

Stephan has a unique way of seeing, and one that is immediately available to the viewer as artistic and spiritual. He has worked as an artist his entire life, and his photographs are stunning works of color, composition, and spirit. Stephan thrives on unique moments and brings out the playful nature of his subjects. He did our wedding in September, and he was punctual, professional, and very out of the way. He created an environment of trust and respect with us and with our guests. We hardly knew he was there, and yet he captured all the intimate moments and each and every one of our guests in a beautiful light. Stephan Hoglund is a great photographer! An ARTIST to the T. We wanted a photographer that had an eye like a high fashion magazine photographer. (Boy, are they hard to find!) One day we past Stephan's Shop in Grand Marais and saw his Photographs; we knew right away that we had to book him. He satisfied our every want and need for our wedding. We got 6,000 photographs that could all be found in a magazine. He just made our wedding less stressful because we didn't have to worry about how our photos were going to turn out. He was super professional and accommodating and we got a ton of photos for the money. He documented the most important day of our life and we will never be able to Thank him enough for that.

11/21/2009 This past August 15, 2009 our daughter Barbara Jean married Dan Johnson in beautiful Grand Marais, Minnesota. As a professional, published photographer myself, I was very particular about our selection of a photographer. We wanted a photographer who would fit in almost like family or friends and would be extremely unobtrusive and a gentle manipulator of sequential staged Portraiture not breaking the joyful flow of the day. We feel fortunate and happy to have chosen Stephan Hoglund as the wedding photographer. Stephan is from the area and knows it well. He has the rare ability of incorporating the dramatic beauty of the North Shore area in his photography. The artistic photos he took of the couple near the shores of Lake Superior are dramatic and breathtaking. Stephan is perceptive and intuitive and uses this capability to capture the beauty of the event. His photos of the wedding ceremony are truly wonderful and reveal the joy and intensity that we felt as this young couple exchanged their vows. Stephan also caught the spirit of celebration at the reception and dance that followed. The only problem we have ( if one can even call this a problem) is that he took such a great variety of photographs that it is difficult to make selections. Stephan is a great photographer. I would highly recommend him. He has a talent for getting great documentary style shots that are interesting and help make the day more memorable. When I look at the pictures he took of our wedding, I�m transported back to the feeling and emotion of that day. He did a great job getting shots, and not getting in the way.

Our wedding took place on the shores of Lake Superior on a very "eventful" day (weather-wise). Stephan started by capturing the scene pre-people which was wonderful. We've got our pastor "taking" a moment before everyone arrived. We've got the anticipating groom. The arrival of the bride. Wonderfully candid arrival pictures of our guests. Very creative pictures of the ceremony. Great formal pictures after the ceremony and also many memorable photos of the reception. Stephan really captured our day and was really great to work with.
